The CHS 2024 Summer School Program is open to current students in grades 8-11 who need to make up failing coursework, and/or desire to free up space in their schedules for Pathway access, will be invited to enroll in specified courses. Students in the class of 2024 who did not graduate will also be allowed to participate.

Nutrition                       7:50 a.m. -  8:20 a.m.

1st Session                 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Semester 1)

Snack Break              11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.      

2nd Session              12:05 p.m. -   3:05 p.m. (Semester 2)

OFFICE HOURS:

8:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

COURSE OFFERINGS (DEPENDENT UPON ENROLLMENT FIGURES): 

Algebra I, Geometry, English I, English II, English III, Biology, Earth Science, U.S. History, World History, Physical Education, and any other course option as needed. 

ATTENDANCE AND DISCIPLINE:

Students will be dropped for suspendable violations of Education Code 48900 and/or if they miss a total of four and one-half (4.5) hours of class for that semester. Tardies are counted as missing one (1) hour of class.

The following programs may offer opportunities for CJUSD students to take courses outside of the CHS 2024 Summer School Program. These programs are independent of CJUSD and are listed as a reference to students and guardians. It is the responsibility of the guardian to register the student AND ensure that Colton High School receives transcripts once courses are completed. Please see the FAQs for additional information

Can I enroll for summer school at Colton High and at another high school?

Yes. As long as the student is NOT enrolled in both programs during the same time frame. Most optional summer school programs accommodate our students by starting theirs when ours ends.

Which courses are recommended for an incoming 9th grader?

Students seeking to get ahead should take Art, PE or Earth Science. 9th grade students should avoid taking English as colleges and universities require that these be taken during the school year. All first-year students will need to be enrolled in PE regardless completing the course duiring the summer.

What courses are offered in the CHS Summer Program?

What is the maximum amount of credits I can earn in the summer?

The CHS Summer School Program offer students up to 10 credits (2 semesters). Students may be able to earn additional credits via an Optional Summer School Program. Typically, CJUSD allows up to a maximum of 20 total summer school credits from all programs.

Will I be registered for the course that I request?

Courses will be offered based on teacher availability. Counselor may adjust the request submitted based on course availability or specific student need.
