CJUSD Science and Engineering Fair Students Advance to State Level
Four Colton Joint Unified School District students earned a spot in the 2024 California Science and Engineering Fair after earning gold medals in this year's San Bernardino, Inyo, Mono Science and Engineering Fair (Junior and Senior Division) on March 14.
Congratulations to Jackson Palmer of Grand Terrace Elementary; Amy Natividad of Bloomington High School; and Danaya Figueroa and Priscilla Munoz both of Grand Terrace High School.
Danaya and Priscilla will also advance to the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair competition for the second year in a row for their project "Smart Glove for the Visually Impaired".
Our gold medal winners from the elementary division were Metzli Cortes of Grand Terrace Elementary and Valerie Maciel of Smith Tech Academy.
A total of 24 CJUSD students received gold, silver, and bronze medals in the regional competition. 12 received special awards, including awards from the Environmental Protection Agency, Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, Association of Women Geoscientists, and the US Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps.
CJUSD Students Earn RIMS AVID Scholarships
Six students from CJUSD Class of 2024 were selected by the RIMS AVID's scholarship committee to receive $1,500 awards.
The students were selected because of their commitment to academic excellence, enthusiasm for extracurricular activities, and dedication to community service. Committee members also praised them for their ability to face challenges and not only "rise above" them, but to use them as a learning tool to become better.

Pencil, Pen & Brush Celebration
CJUSD staff and parents will gather on April 24 to celebrate the art and writing skills of our talented students. Our annual Pencil, Pen & Brush contest showcases the work of our TK-12 students in various art and writing categories. Students receive awards and their work is on display at the celebration, which will be on April 24 at Joe Baca Middle School.

Employee Recognition Awards - February 2024
Congratulations to our CJUSD Employee Recognition recipients for February 2024! They were recognized at our March 21 board meeting.
