Superintendent's Message
Keeping Students First... Achievement, Equity, Wellness
Swinging For Success - July 31, 2024
Our theme for the 2024-25 school year is “Swing for Success - Every Student, Every Day." It resonates particularly with me because of all the success and momentum we built with our students leading up to the launch of this school year.
I am especially proud to be a part of this team and all that our staff's dedication has brought us, with student achievement mostly recovered from pandemic losses, great strides made in meeting our challenges and our continued work toward implementing our CJUSD Design Plan.
We will continue to push for our 10-10-95-95 improvement goals and build on the signs of success in our educational program. Our schools can reach a 10% year-over-year improvement in Math, 10% improvement in Language Arts, 95% graduation rate and 95% positive attendance rate.
And as your superintendent, I commit to serving everyone in our organization to the best of my ability and to do so with transparency and honesty. I believe that my commitment of service will support the achievement of our district's goals. Working together, we can hit it out of the park.
Community Cabinet
CJUSD Community Cabinet was formed in August 2013 to bring a diverse group of partners together to support schools and build community involvement in education. The effort includes representatives from businesses, government, other educational entities, community non-profit and faith-based organizations, and parents, all recognizing that success for our students will provide a strong workforce and more economic growth for our entire region.
In its inaugural year, Community Cabinet members formed committees to focus on four key priority areas: Mental & Physical Health Awareness, Literacy, Early Preparation, and Academic and Career Readiness. Projects included Colton's first district-wide College and Career Fair, a resource fair, a literacy festival, parenting skills workshops, and more.
As we move through the 2024-24 school year, Community Cabinet continues to focus on ongoing dialogue with our community and educational partners, students, teachers, and principals. We also continue to pursue ways to make direct connections between our community professionals and our students. Topics will align with our CJUSD Design Plan and our district motto of "Keeping Students First ... Achievement, Equity, Wellness." We hope these discussions will enable our community partners to become more involved in our educational program and provide opportunities for our students.
