Child Welfare and Attendance Amanda Corridan, Coordinator
Attendance
Attendance is
the number one indicator of whether or not a student will drop out of
school. Research by Arizona State University has shown that students
who average 15 absences a year between 1st and 8th grade are highly
at-risk of dropping out in high school. Student dropouts become a
societal issue in that 85% of all inmates are high school dropouts.
In accordance with
California compulsory education laws and the district's objective to
have at least 95% of our students graduate with a high school
diploma, the Administrative Services Division assists school sites
in monitoring and enforcing student attendance.
Community Resource Guide
The Community Resource Guide was created by the Child
Welfare and
Attendance and Administrative Services Departments with the purpose
of
assisting students and their families in locating resources
provided in the
immediate area.
