Mel Albiso was born and
raised in Colton and has lived here all his life, except for the time he
honorably served our country in the United States Army. His education was all
in the Colton School District and began at Washington Elementary School, Colton
and Terrace Hills Junior High Schools. He graduated from Colton High School and
then went on to earn an Associate Arts Degree from San Bernardino Valley
College, and Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of
Redlands.
During his term in
office as a Colton School Board Member, Mr. Albiso continues to work hard to
ensure all students in the Colton Joint Unified School District have the
opportunity to succeed academically with great teachers and support staff in
safe, clean modern schools. Mr. Albiso feels it is his duty, as a Colton School
Board member, to ensure taxpayers' monies are spent wisely and the District
continues to remain in good financial condition. He encourages parental
involvement in the educational decisions affecting their children and welcomes
parents into our schools.

Patt Haro is a
parent of a Bloomington High School graduate who is currently attending the
University of San Diego. Mrs. Haro is currently on the district's wellness
committee, Strategy Six Character Committee and the Board's Curriculum
Subcommittee. She believes in attending as many school functions throughout the
district as possible to support our students and staff as well as help her make
informed decisions regarding our students and schools.
She believes in
developing innovative, productive, and inclusive partnerships between our
students, parents and our education community.
As the newest member
of the board, she is eager to embrace, challenge and build upon the district's
existing programs. Specific areas of interest include maximizing student
achievement, transitioning average students into exceptional students, and being
a liaison to parents, non-educators and the community at large regarding their
instrumental role in supporting public education.
